A philosopher in Iceland
Welcome to my humble internet presence.
I’m a chronically ill Icelandic woman around forty.
I have my own webpage because I work as an academic philosopher.
In philosophy I mostly engage with feminist philosophy and critical theory and increasingly disabilitiy studies, bioethics and medical humanities.
I enjoy talking and teaching. Being a public philosopher and communicating theoretical and scientifical ideas in a way that the audience understands.
I work both in Icelandic and English (like everybody). But Icelandic is the best.
Due to my own experience as chronically ill, that has increasingly been a subject of study. We need to talk about chronic illnesses.
I do a lot of my work in bed.
And most importantly: I am a mom of two amazing boys, who I have with my lovely partner.
I live in Reykjavik. I love the mountains in Iceland, the ever-changing brightness and colours in the sky and even the trees.
I do not like to take things to seriously (except serious matters), I want to joke and I use humour to clarify ideas.
In Iceland I’m mostly known as Nanna Hlín Halldórsdóttir
I also like to draw. My notes when I listen to people are scetches and drawings.
